LIV Miami 2020 through Cao Chocolates eyes

Congratulations to Kansas City and San Francisco: You made it to LIV Super Bowl. Now it is time to celebrate and get ready for the big event that will be held in our city: Miami, Fl.

The whole city is getting ready for the biggest sport event of the year and we will be part of the celebration too.

Miami is well known for the parties, the latin food, the beaches and the beautiful weather we have the whole year. Even our winter time is amazing.

At Cao Chocolates, we are always welcoming visitors from other cities, states and countries who are looking for the best chocolates in town and they always ask us, how they should enjoy the city. So, if you are looking for things to do in Miami while visiting for the Super Bowl, don't forget to support local businesses, take care of our beaches and enjoy our chocolates.

These are our recommendations to enjoy the city the way we do every single day:

1) Please rent a car. It is the best way to move around the city. Unfortunately our public transportation system sucks and we want you to enjoy Miami and not hate us.

2) Miami is all about latin food. You can find food from almost every Latin American country but our recommendation is to go out of tourist spots. Since you will have a car, hit the road and try local mom & Pop restaurants all over Miami-Dade County: Cuban - any El Palacio de los Jugos -, Venezuelan - El Sabor Venezolano - , Colombian - Macitas -, Mexican - Taqueria Morelia or Puerto Vallarta, Nicaraguan - Fritanga Moninbo - , Puerto Rico - Isla del Encanto - , Dominican Republic - Grand Cafe-, and many more.

3) Cuban coffee runs in our veins and it is one of the thing that help us to keep calm in order to deal with Miami's traffic. Try a cafecito at any cafeteria window around Miami. Versailles is the touristic spot but we have cafeterias ventanitas everywhere.

4) All our beaches are beautiful. Enjoy Miami Beach or drive a little bit and go to Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park in Key Biscayne for a beautiful beach day.

5) Local breweries are popping out around too. Our favorites: Beat Culture Brewery & Kitchen; Wynwood Brewing and Concrete Beach in Wynwood.

6)For the weekend of the major sport event you will have the opportunity to enjoy our seasonal Farmer's Markets. We will be at Coral Gables FM from 8am to 2pm. Stop by and enjoy local foods. After visit the market, walk around Coral Gables and discover the hidden spots they have to offer. Our favorite: Threefold Cafe.

7) You need to make a short trip to the Redlands and visit the famous fruit stand: Robert is Here! and try his shakes. Delicious!

8) Enjoy the night vibes at Wynwood. Take lots of pictures of the murals, eat at the local restaurants and don't forget to stop by Panther Coffee for an amazing espresso coffee.

9) Love Nature? Then reserve some of your time to visit the Fairchild Botanical Garden in Coral Gables. Worth it every single penny.

10) Stop by Cao Chocolates located at 9800 SW 77th Ave, Miami, FL 33156 to fill your luggage with Miami-Bean-To-Bar Chocolates. If you don't have time to stop by our shop, give us a call at 305-879-0281 and we wil help you to find our chocolates closer to you.

Enjoy and LIV Miami!

Wine and Chocolate Pairings

Wine and Chocolate Pairings Matching Flavor Nuances Wine and chocolate paired together? They're natural companions. Both have complex flavors and notes, both have similar components and nuances in common. A wine and chocolate pairing follows the same kind of process as a wine or chocolate tasting, except you taste both together. Examine the attributes of the chocolate, and follow the same steps as you would in a classic chocolate tasting. That includes noting the aroma, listening for the snap when you break it and checking the shine and glossiness. Before tasting it, though, take the same notice of the wine. Swirl the wine in the glass: be aware of the color and the viscosity. Sniff the wine and note the bouquet and flavor components. Sip the wine; let it fill your mouth. Notice the wine's complexity, which flavors come to mind. Now take a small bite of the chocolate, let it sit on your tongue. When it just begins to melt, sip the wine again and swirl together with ...

Welcome to the Dark Side of the Miami Chocolate Festival at Fairchild Tropical Garden

--> It’s hard to believe after all the preparation, production and, expectations, the Fairchild Tropical Garden Chocolate Festival is over.   This year –our second- was unbelievable for Cao Chocolates and also for me personally. I don’t have enough words to express my gratitude to all the attendees and staff for their support and friendship. We had the most amazing customers who became friends rapidly after our unforgettable conversations about cacao (not just chocolate) and the beauty of this amazing fruit. Cao Chocolates Truffles: Spice Caramel, Passion Fruit, Almond Crunchy, Hazelnut and almonds, Guava & Dulce de leche, Salted Caramel. Photo courtesy of Fairchild Tropical Garden I also had the opportunity to share my knowledge with one of the lectures on Sunday afternoon about cacao and the importance of appreciating, respecting and supporting farmers without forgetting the difference in quality between our artisan confections versus mass pro...

"…And the hard work paid off"

I have to start this new article of our blog with two words "Thank You" and whoever is reading this now and have met Cao Chocolates team know we mean every single word and our gratitude is infinite to all clients, family,  friends and supporters. About six weeks ago we opened the doors of our first Chocolate Atelier in a two days celebration round. The first celebration was opening our doors and celebrating my birthday the same day Oct 15, 2012 and then one day later we celebrated our Grand opening in company of close friends and family also celebrating the 8th year anniversary we moved from Venezuela and became immigrants working towards the American dream . Every single morning I walk into my chocolate paradise where I have no limitations to creativity and dare to experiment with any ingredient I want or my clients want. The greatest feeling is to understand that part of my job description (if I can call this amazing dream a job) is to make someone...
